VARCHART XNet - New in Version 4.1
New Editions
In addition to the successful ActiveX edition of VARCHART XNet, also editions for .NET and ASP.NET technology have now been issued. They allow for a smooth transition from ActiveX to .NET and ASP.NET technology. Concerning their functions, the editions are nearly identical and differ mainly by naming conventions of their APIs. The removal of the intermediate layer (interoperability assembly) makes component integration easier.
Extension of the API
Names of data fields can be modified at run time. Data tables and data fields can now be edited by a combined dialog.
- The properties of the VcScheduler object can now also be set at run time.
- For unique identification of data sets a composite key is available.
- The event VcHelpRequested was added to display proper help texts if the user presses the F1 key in a dialog at run time.
- The initial settings of the date format can be taken from the Windows systems settings.
Improved Expanding and Collapsing of Groups
Larger structures can be handled more easily by collapsing or expanding groups individually. Depending on the direction of arrangement (left-right or top-down), groups are directed horizontally or vertically.

Further Enhancements
- The ASP.NET edition uses AJAX features, if JavaScript is available in the web browser. Apart from avoiding the disturbing re-build of the screen image, also tool tip texts can be displayed.
- The screen section of the world view can be modified more easily as the sensitive area was amplified.
- Transparent colors are available to node and box fields.
- The online help now seamlessly fits into Microsoft Visual Studio 2003 and 2005.
