VARCHART XNet - Product Features

Overview

VARCHART XNet lets you generate an initial graphical representation of your data in a matter of minutes. VARCHART XNet provides clear charts by optimized node arrangement and a minimized number of cross-links. An automatic layout maintains clarity even in very large and complex networks.  

A scheduling module allows to schedule project data and to calculate float times and critical paths.  Benefit from the large variety of design options and the interactive way of modifying data.

Nodes and links can be created by the API. They can be loaded and stored by CSV files.

Interactions Available to the User

A large variety of user interactions are available, such as creating, deleting or moving nodes and links.

Nodes can be positioned individually and be grouped according to criteria. Groups can be arranged in lines or as clusters in squares. Text and picture boxes allow to put additional information and can be freely moved and edited.

  • adjusting the flow direction of the network between "top to bottom" and "left to right"
  • continuous zooming and auto scrolling of diagrams
  • integrated world view (complete view) for navigation purposes
  • integrated printing function including paging and page previews, title and legend
  • diagram export (formats: EMF, WMF, JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIF)
  • support of OLE drag&drop for nodes and links.

The Diagram Concept

The dynamic diagram concept of VARCHART XNet allows for meaningful visualization of data in most different applications. You can control the appearance of nodes an links by means of filters and maps in dependence of data.

Data fields within and beyond node limits can be selected and their appearance can be modified (size, font, color).

  • Four different link types (FF, FS, SF, and SS) can be displayed graphically and annotated.
  • Positions of nodes and links manually modified can be stored and re-loaded.
  • The VARCHART XNet Control can be added to a HTML page and displayed in an internet browser.

Easy-To-Use Programming Interface

The programming interface holds a comprehensive number of properties, methods and events.

  • Already at design time you can set many of the attributes by the property editor integrated in the control.
  • All design features can be offered to the end user for modification. Your application can react to the interactions of the user by corresponding events. 

 

 

 

Calendar for Scheduling

Calendars are objects that form the base of time patterns in diagrams.

  • VARCHART XNet uses a calendar when scheduling.
  • The dialog to define the calendar is available at design time and at run time.








OLE Drag & Drop

Ole Drag&Drop allows for comfortable passing of data between different instances:

  • You can drag nodes and links of VARCHART XNet into a different instance of VACHART XNet or even into an instance of a different component - such as VARCHART XTree or XGantt.
  • The Drag&Drop mode can be customized individually.

 

 

 

 

Technical Requirements

VARCHART XNet requires the below system environment:

  • Operating system Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista
  • A development environment which supports the integration of ActiveX and .NET controls, such as Visual Basic/VBA, Visual C++, C#, Progress, Delphi, Centura, Powerbuilder or HTML combined with VBScript.
